Prompt: 001.

Fatherhood is pretending the present you love most is soap-on-a-rope. -- Bill Cosby

Character: Sam Flynn
Fandom: Tron: Legacy
Word Count: 346
Rating: PG
Warnings None!
Disclaimer Steven Lisberger, Bonnie MacBird and Disney own Tron and all things associated. I'm just having fun in their sandbox.
Summary: Quorra officially gains a family.
Author's Notes: This has nothing to do with soap-on-a-rope. It has everything to do with fatherhood :)

"What made you decide on that particular course of action?" Sam asked Alan as he gazed through the window into the kitchen. Lora was teaching Quorra her potato salad recipe while the men sat out on the patio, sipping iced tea. Sam tried not to think of how much potato salad he was going to have to eat in the coming weeks.

He'd started visiting her every year on his birthday after Flynn had disappeared, but as he remembered next to nothing about her, Sam tried to tell himself he only went because it reminded him of his dad and not because he had missed the presence of his mother every single day of his life.

Title: Creation
Prompt: 002. Green
Character: Sam Flynn
Fandom: Tron: Legacy
Word Count: 1,129
Rating: PG-13
Warnings Possible, minor, spoilers for Evolution and Legacy, I guess? Dunno :/
Disclaimer Steven Lisberger, Bonnie MacBird and Disney own Tron and all things associated. I'm just having fun in their sandbox.
Summary: Sam gets his first glimpse of the new grid.
Author's Notes:

1) Opening paragraph transcribed from Evolution's opening cutscene and ergo NOT MINE. Used only as a jumping-off point. Please don't hurt me. I bleed.

2) This is my sorry-ass attempt at reconcling Betrayal, Evolution and Legacy where the emergence of the ISO's is concerned. Betrayal implies and Evolution outright states that the gaming grid, at the very least, was in existence at the time of manifestation, whereas the scene in Legacy seems to be prior to any major on-grid construction, as CLU and Flynn are looking at freakin' blue-prints.

3) My cycle calculation comes from here, which basically states 1 year = 50 cycles. This breaks down to about 7.3 days per cycle, so 24 hours would be roughly 1/7th of a cycle. Ish. I suck at math.

4) Sam needs to stop usurping my homework time to write this crap.

Kevin Flynn. Ah, Grid Development Diary, entry number...In there, behind the screen, things are getting intense. The system's evolving. It's way past games now. The programs, they're like people! But that's not the real mind-melt: it's the ISO's, man! Isomorphic Algorithims. Been seven years since I discovered the Grid, and five since I found them. I...I still can't get over it. They just appeared, I didn't write them; no one did. They had their own functions, their own ideas, ah...uh...f-freewill, man! Try programming that! You can't...The Basic programs, the ones I did write? And the ISO's? Well...some get along, and some...don't. Even my System Administrator, CLU, seems different around them. Jalen, one of the leaders of the ISO's, died in the gaming grids. I think it was...I think it was murder. ...And that's where my new System Monitor Security Program comes in. I wrote it to get things under control. I just hope it's not too late to help. Not too late for...peace.

He supposed he should have known better than to let Quorra try the spoonful of banana, and vanilla ice cream with strawberry sauce on it, since its predecessor ended up being the last he enjoyed of that particular banana split sundae.

He should have taken more detailed notes on how to set the thing up, he supposed, if only to avoid the phone call he would now have to make to his Aunt Lora, informing her that he'd fried the laser.

[takes place 6-8 months after Tron: Legacy]

It was a rainy Saturday, not fit for anything. The arcade was in the middle of renovations to bring the building back up to code, Sam's Encom business was done for the week - the advantage of only being there Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, he supposed - and he was taking a break from reading his father's notes to play something violent on his Playstation 3. He had the volume turned off, so as not to disturb Quorra, who was sitting by the window, watching the fat drops of water hit the pavement. Her chin rested in her hand as her fingers rested upon her lips; she had one knee tucked up close to her chest as the other stretched out before her while Marv kept her thigh warm. Quorra loved watching the weather patterns and inclement weather continued to hold a strange fascination for her. Ordered chaos, she had once described it, and Sam had to agree.

The first time Quorra had come into direct, physical contact with video games was the weekend the carnival was in town. While it was impossible to keep her completely ignorant of their existence due to television and retail stores selling the damned things (not to mention what she knew about Encom from Flynn), Sam did his best to keep them away from her until she was ready to deal with them. He knew that, for her, games symbolized something different than they did for him, what with her experiences on the Grid. Hell, his own time on the other side of the screen had given him a new respect for the video games he played, however, he knew that instead of appropriated programs forced to go against their coding these were specifically designed to do the things he was making them do. He also knew that to Quorra a program was a program. She and Sam had also had all the discussions about the technology of his world, and of the various forms of entertainments, and she had had a lifetime of listening to his father's stories about the arcade. Even still, she wasn't sure how she would really react to them. So, at her request, he had kept his gaming consoles hidden until she decided she was ready.

Title: The Time is Now
Prompt: 005.

"Time is what we want most, but what we use worst." --- William Penn

Character: Sam Flynn
Fandom: Tron: Legacy
Word Count: 757
Rating: PG-13
Warnings Possible spoilers for Tron: Legacy
Disclaimer Steven Lisberger, Bonnie MacBird and Disney own Tron and all things associated. I'm just having fun in their sandbox.
Summary: Set post-movie, Sam ponders his next move in trying to fulfill his father's wishes.
Author's Notes: I think we might be settling into a truce plot of some sort. This takes place about 6 2 months after the movie and assumes a helluva lot of things that may or may not be considered canon. And yes, I stole those lines from the movie :p They fit. I'm sorry.

---

The city sprawled out before him as dusk descended and he realized that the last time he had stood here had been the night that his entire life changed. Instead of his base-jumping gear, however, he was now in a business suit and he refrained from walking out onto the catwalk as his shoes had no traction out there. From his spot by the door he still had an amazing view of everything, and he imagined that he could see his place down by the water's edge. Other than that, the sights and sounds of the world as the tail-end of rush hour raced along blurred in his vision and all Sam Flynn could see were clusters of information as they moved through a computer. They looked like ships, motorcycles, and fighter jets... The freeways were circuits as his brain superimposed a realm that the world would never see over the city like a hallucination.
